If you’ve been farming for a while, Dragonfruit is probably the seed you actually want. At $350K base income it’s the highest earner in the Exotic tier and, crucially, far easier to get than the Transcended monsters above it. This guide covers exactly how to get Dragonfruit, the odds, and whether it’s worth your Robux. For where it fits in your overall plan, see how to make money fast.
What makes Dragonfruit special
Most high-value seeds in Build A Ring Farm sit behind brutal Seed Roll odds — the kind that climb into the millions and trillions to one. Dragonfruit sidesteps that. According to the All Things How seed index, it’s an Exotic seed with a $350K base income and a 55-second grow time, and it costs around $8B per plant. That $350K base is the highest in the Exotic tier — higher even than several seeds that are far rarer — which is what makes it the standout target for most farms. You can see its full stats on the Dragonfruit seed page.
How to get Dragonfruit — the Tropical Seed Pack
Dragonfruit is not rolled from the standard Seed Roll. It comes from the Tropical Seed Pack, a Robux purchase from the Premium Shop. Each pack opens to a single seed pulled from a fixed table, and Dragonfruit is the rarest item in that table at roughly a 1% drop rate. The pack’s other contents — Starfruit, Pineapple, Pomegranate and Kiwi — are far more common, so landing a Dragonfruit usually takes several packs.
Pack pricing runs about 199 Robux for one, 499 for three, and 1,199 for ten. Because the ten-pack improves your chances of hitting that 1% while costing less per pack, it’s the better value if you’re committed to chasing Dragonfruit. For a full breakdown of the pack’s contents and whether it’s worth buying, read is the Tropical Seed Pack worth it?.
Can you get it for free?
There’s no confirmed free Seed Roll route to Dragonfruit — it’s tied to the pack. The only no-Robux angle is codes: some codes have handed out Tropical Seed Packs (UPDATE2 and 2KLIKES both reward one), which gives free-to-play players a shot at the pack table without spending. It’s a long shot at 1%, but redeeming every pack-granting code is the only way to chase Dragonfruit for free.
Is Dragonfruit worth it?
For most players, yes. The seeds that out-earn it — Durian ($380K) and Ghost Pepper ($500K) — are Transcended-tier with Seed Roll odds in the hundreds of billions to trillions, making them impractical to actually plant in bulk. Dragonfruit gives you roughly 70% of Ghost Pepper’s base income at a tiny fraction of the difficulty, which is why it’s widely considered the best realistic late-game seed. If you want to compare it against the true top end, see how to get Ghost Pepper.
Dragonfruit vs the other pack seeds
The Tropical Seed Pack can give you five different seeds, and it helps to know what you’re really hoping for versus what you’ll usually get:
- Dragonfruit (Exotic, ~1%) — the jackpot at $350K base income.
- Pineapple (Prismatic) — a solid $40K base income, your most likely “good” pull.
- Pomegranate (Divine) — $75K base income, a strong consolation prize.
- Kiwi (Prismatic/Exotic) — around $90K base income.
- Starfruit (Secret, ~50%) — the most common pull at $13K, effectively the pack’s “filler.”
So even when you miss Dragonfruit, the pack rarely leaves you empty-handed — Pineapple, Pomegranate and Kiwi are all meaningful upgrades for a mid-game farm. That softens the gamble considerably compared with packs that can dump pure junk.
How long until Dragonfruit pays for itself
At $8B per plant, Dragonfruit isn’t cheap to keep in the ground, so it only makes sense once your farm can comfortably afford to fill plots with it. On the Outer ring (19×), a single Dragonfruit harvest is worth roughly $6.65M before mutations — so a full ring of them, harvesting on repeat, recoups the per-plant cost in just a handful of cycles. The moment your farm is generating tens of billions per cycle, Dragonfruit stops being a luxury and becomes your default Outer-ring crop. Below that income level, you’re better off riding Legendary and Secret seeds until you can sustain it.
Getting the most out of Dragonfruit
Once you’ve pulled one, treat it like the premium crop it is:
- Plant it on the Outer ring (19×) to maximise every harvest.
- Save your best mutation for it — a Rainbow or Cosmic on a Dragonfruit is one of the biggest single harvests you can set up. See the mutations page for which to chase.
- Keep it planted — at $8B per plant it’s expensive, but its value per second easily justifies the cost once your farm is generating tens of billions per cycle.
- Pair it with a mutation-upgrade pet like Kitsune (see the best pets tier list) to push it toward higher multipliers automatically.
Plug Dragonfruit into the calculator with your ring and mutation to see exactly what it earns versus your current crop — for most mid-to-late farms, it’s a clear upgrade and the seed worth saving Robux or pack codes for.
